About us

At Achille's Heel we are adamant to helping others and spreading lifesaving skills. We are an organisation dedicated to teaching students medical skills so that they are able to create a safe environment around them.

Bij Achilles Heel zijn we toegewijd aan het helpen van anderen en het verspreiden van levensreddende vaardigheden. We zijn een organisatie die zich richt op het opleiden van leerlingen in verschillen medische vaardigheden.

Who are we?

We are students who study at the school Denise in Amsterdam, we currently study at HAVO-IB (vwo) level.

Inspiration:

The reason why we are making this service is due to the lack of medical services in school. We feel that it's important for children to learn these skills so that they don't feel helpless in a situation where someone needs medical attention; it's important for children to learn these skills to stay safe and to help the lives of others. Which is why we would like to offer medical lessons to children.

Background Information/research:

Globally more than 4 million people die annually due to cardiac arrest and from that, in the Netherlands alone 5,000 deaths occur due to the lack of medical services nearby.

To teach children medical skills to give them the independence to act and help in serious medical situations when no other services like ambulances or hospitals are around.
